Why am I here?

There I was, a young, smart, physically healthy soldier. But in my head I was struggling. When I described what was making me upset to someone, it all seemed insignificant, everyone goes through days of feeling down. What do you do when all of your days feel down, like there was no end to feeling this way?
If you're reading this, I'm sure you have felt the same way and you are here for some type of help. While I am NOT a doctor, I can only share what has brought me here and share my experience. For now, my depression is managed, but I still deal with anxiety, sensory overload, and PTSD. The reason I am still here today, and was able to make the life I did for myself, is all because of one green eyed, orange and white furred soulmate: Spaz.
Now, I know that cats and dogs are not a magical cure for mental illness, but Spaz saved my life. He provided the companionship, care, and a sense of purpose for me to carry on. In my darkest of times, he could sense that I was hurting and would stay right by my side. He never let me feel alone. In those moments, I stayed alive for him.
What Spaz did for me has inspired me to help others find comfort and support with a furry angel of their own. It is my goal to pair service members and veterans in need with a warrior companion to become a part of their family, and keep them in the fight.
